I read every message. RoleBadge is made by one person, so you are writing to the developer, not a queue.
It helps to include your RoleBadge version and macOS version. Both are on the About tab in RoleBadge Preferences (⌃⌥⌘P) — or press Email Support there and the draft arrives with them already filled in.
Share your whole screen, not a single window. This is the one that catches almost everybody. macOS window sharing captures only the chosen window, and the badge is a separate floating panel — so it is excluded by design, at the operating-system level. Choose the whole display or desktop instead and the badge appears. This is a platform constraint, not something RoleBadge can work around.
RoleBadge is a menu-bar app. It has no Dock icon and no main window — look for the Role item in the menu bar at the top right of your screen, and click it for the menu.
If it isn't there, check whether a menu-bar manager such as Bartender, Ice or Hidden Bar has tucked it away. Failing that, press ⌃⌥⌘P to open Preferences directly — if the window appears, the app is running fine and the status item is simply hidden.
Press ⌃⌥⌘0 to show or hide it. If it may have ended up off-screen or on a disconnected display, open Preferences (⌃⌥⌘P) → General → Reset Size & Position.
Every shortcut can be changed in Preferences → General, and each persona can have its own. If a shortcut does nothing, another app has probably claimed it — record a different one and it will take effect immediately.
macOS gives a global shortcut to whichever app registered it first, and there is no way for RoleBadge to override that. Pick a different combination in Preferences → General, or use Restore Default Hotkeys to start over.
No. There is no Accessibility prompt and no Screen Recording prompt. The app is sandboxed and makes no network connections of any kind — see the privacy policy.
In the app's sandbox container:
~/Library/Containers/com.rolebadge.RoleBadge/Data/Library/Application Support/RoleBadge/
Preferences → General → Reveal Config Folder opens it for you. The file is plain JSON and yours to edit; RoleBadge never overwrites it if an edit fails to parse, so a typo can't lose your cast.
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by me — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something isn't working, do email me first; I would much rather fix it.
